Remote Development
Run agents and development tools on your own machines
Keep Emdash on your laptop. Run your code, agents and development tools on a remote machine over SSH.
The Workspace Server runs on that machine and handles files, Git, terminals, agents, search and automations. Emdash connects through SSH; you don't need to expose a public server port.
Get early access to Emdash 2.0
A cloud-first coding environment for teams. Any model. Any harness. Any infrastructure.
Get started
- Connect a machine.
- Open a project and create a task.
- Manage the machine's agents, MCP servers and skills.
What runs where
| On your computer | On the remote machine |

| Emdash UI and browser previews | Repositories, worktrees and files |
| SSH connection and authentication | Agent processes, terminals and lifecycle scripts |
| Search, language services and scheduled automations |
Install and authenticate agent CLIs on the machine where they'll run. Local agent installations and credentials aren't automatically available remotely.
Use the in-app browser to preview remote dev servers. For persistent terminal processes, see tmux sessions.
